Better Together: Two Churches Become One

Centerpoint Church and Horizon Christian Church Join Together to Become One Church on Mission

Everything's better together. At least that’s the motto for Centerpoint Church and Horizon Christian Church, both located in Valrico, Florida. That is why on June 3, 2018, Horizon will be joining Centerpoint Church, under the Centerpoint name, to become
one gathering. They are calling this the #BetterTogether campaign.

Centerpoint is a congregation of 600+ with 3 services. Horizon Christian Church of almost 200 will be selling their facilities and joining Centerpoint at their current location. With the sale of the property, there are plans to build or relocate to a larger facility in order to reach more people for Jesus.

Brian Hughes, the Lead Pastor Horizon knows that this is a historic moment for our community. He describes what led him to consider the joining Centerpoint. "I know what is happening at Centerpoint is a move of God, and what they were doing is what God wants us to do. It became clear that God wanted us to join together for his kingdom."

Bryant Golden, the Lead Pastor of Centerpoint Church, describes this uniting event as an answered prayer. “This is definitely something we’ve prayed about as a gathering for a while now, and it
just felt like God was opening all of the doors to make this happen.” He goes on to discuss the strategy behind joining the two churches, and what he hopes will be the outcome of this decision.

“Ultimately, we want to be a church on mission, set to serve others. By joining together with Horizon Christian Church and creating a larger gathering, we can reach and serve more people in the city.
We are just excited and expectant to see how Jesus will use this
to reach more people and where He will lead us next,” Golden states.

The Better Campaign kicked off this past weekend with Connect Night at Centerpoint Church. Both congregations gathered to meet each other and they quickly began to feel like a family. Parents and their children met new friends. Student's that attended the event got connected to Velocity, Centerpoint's student movement. Those in attendance heard from their Lead Pastors about the future of the church, and how excited they were to begin this new journey together. It was uplifting and exciting time for those in attendance.

This new, joined gathering will meet every Sunday at Centerpoint Church located on the corner of Miller Rd. and Durant Rd. in Valrico, FL. Service times are at 9:00 AM, 10:45 AM and 12:30 PM. You can visit Centerpoint Church’s website at www.centerpointfl.org for more information.
