A 55-year-old Brandon woman is dead following a Monday night crash on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Falkenburg Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the wreck happened around 5 p.m. as Erica Lynn Matheison was riding her bicycle east on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in the bike lane. Keisha Minatee, 34, of Tampa was traveling north on Falkenburg Road at the time in the inside lane.

Troopers say Minatee continued north through the intersection with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard under a green traffic light, but Matheison failed to yield. As a result, her bike collided with the driver’s side of Minatee’s Toyota Corolla.
Matheison was taken to Tampa General Hospital, but later died. Minatee suffered minor injuries and was treated at Brandon Regional Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation with charges pending the outcome.
