What is dermaplaning?
It is an exfoliating treatment to trick your body into thinking it has an injury, using a very sharp scalpel to remove the dead and irregular surface layers of skin cells that contribute to the skins listless appearance. Dermaplaning is typically done on facial skin.

What does Dermaplaning do for the skin?
It improves the skins appearance by removing layers of skin through a controlled method of scraping of the skin with a scalpel blade. The treatment was made famous by a company called Bio Medic a medical skin care company. The procedure removes layers of dead skin and fine downy hair. It also removes all barriers from the skin so that product can penetrate deeper giving you a more efficacious treatment.

Who is ideal for this treatment?
Skin types that will benefit from this removal of the mirco thin top layer of the skin are: oily, sun-damaged, hyper-pigmentation, acne prone skin, bothersome facial hair, and large pores. Compared to standard chemical facial peels and Microdermabrasion, dermaplaning offers a much milder exfoliation so it can also be used on sensitive skin types with premature sun damage. This treatment does not required recovery time for redness or peeling. Also if a client has thick skin with sun-damage, dermaplaning can be done in conjunction with a chemical peel for a deeper more efficacious treatment.
How can Dermaplaning help the skin?
The procedure provides the patient with double exfoliation, promoting skin texture and the side benefit of removing unwanted facial hair.
