Brandon High, University of Florida Star Schintzius Laid to Rest

NBA center Dwayne Schintzius, a former basketball standout with the Brandon High Eagles, died April 15 at age 43 following a two-year battle with leukemia, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Schintzius was drafted 24th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1990 NBA Draft and played for six NBA teams in an eight-year career.

Many of his former Gators teammates filled the chapel at on Saturday morning in Schintzius' hometown, the Times reports.
