Brandon Man Charged With Possessing Child Porn

A 36-year-old Brandon man was charged Tuesday with 30 counts of possessing child pornography, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports.

Detectives said Freddie William Mendez, of 1212 Versant Dr., #102, was trying to obtain child porn on the Internet. When they executed a search warrant at his residence they found Mendez to be in possession of files depicting children approximately 13 years old and younger engaged in sexual activities, according to a media release.

Mendez was also charged with five counts of distribution of child porn.

He was arrested and taken to Hillsborough County Jail, where he is being held on $300,000 bond, according to jail records.
