Brandon Motorcyclist Dies After Crash
The driver of another vehicle involved in the State Road 60 accident is being sought by the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 50-year-old Brandon man is dead following a crash on State Road 60 Saturday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the Advanced Auto parking lot at 101 E. State Road 60.
A Chevrolet Equinox driven by an unknown person was pulling out of the parking lot at that time and failed to yield the right of way of an oncoming Honda VTX 1800. Scott Randall Caput, the Honda’s rider, saw the Equinox coming and tried to steer away. Caput lost control of the motorcycle. It overturned, ejecting Caput, a highway patrol report stated.

The Equinox’s driver failed to stop and continued eastbound on State Road 60.
Caput was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital where he later died.

Troopers are now trying to find the driver of the Equinox. Anyone with information about the motorist is asked to contact the patrol at 813-631-4020.
