Brandon's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Event
This event is to help prevent prescription drugs from falling into the wrong hands, and to fight the opioid crisis, said the sheriff.

BRANDON, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is giving Brandon residents a safe opportunity to get rid of unwanted or expired prescription drugs on Saturday, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The annual drug take back event aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means for residents to dispose of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential for opioid abuse if medications fall into the wrong hands, the sheriff's office said.
“We want to do whatever we can to help fight the opioid crisis in our communities, and that means starting with making sure our prescription drugs aren't accessible to those who could abuse them," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “It’s very common for residents to have old medication just sitting around the house. This is a chance to dispose of your drugs in a safe way.”
