SeaWorld Sky Tower Riders Rescued

The passengers were stuck in the air for more than an hour.

ORLANDO, FL – SeaWorld visitors hoping for a leisurely tour of the park from the air didn’t get what they bargained for Monday when the park’s Sky Tower malfunctioned, trapping guests in the air.

“We are working closely with Orange County Fire Rescue to quickly and safely remove all the quests from the ride,” the theme park tweeted just before 3 p.m. “We are in constant communication with the guests and team members on the ride, and all passengers are safe.”

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., WESH reported people trapped on the ride had been safely removed. SeaWorld guests reported they had been stuck for more than an hour.

“Today the Sky Tower adds a dose of retro-cool to the day’s adventures,” the park notes. “Get a seabird’s eye view of Orlando during this leisurely capsule ride, and take a load off as you plot the rest of your day in the park.”
