Art II – Chinese Brush Painting derivative of calligraphy, Chinese brush painting is an art form created through the expression of basic ink strokes. The class introduces students to the concept of Chinese painting, the fundamentals of painting with brush, the esthetic value of the art and the philosophical value it lends to the mind. The class curriculum covers the fundamental brush strokes, the usage of ink monochromes, water color and rice paper. A step by step approach to xieyi painting, the goal is to create compositions of bamboo, flowers, trees and rocks, fruits/vegetables, and small animals.
