Coroner IDs Body Found In Lake As Missing Senior From Hillsborough County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – The body of a missing elderly, Hillsborough County man was discovered Tuesday evening in a small lake in Tampa, according to authorities.

At approximately 6:30 pm, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office dive team members recovered the body of Maynell Benton Scott, 82, from the lake near Lake George Lane and North Armenia Avenue in Tampa, and the coroner confirmed the man's identity today, deputies said.

Although an investigation continues, no foul play is suspected, and relatives were notified, the department said.

Scott, who suffered from dementia and Alzheimer's, went missing last week from an assisted living facility in West Tampa, deputies said. At the time the missing person report was filed, Scott was thought to be on foot.
