Couple's 'Epic Wedding Music Video' Goes Viral

The Florida newlyweds wanted to make sure their guests had a 'blast."

Robert and Teresa Ly dated for 7 ½ years before deciding to walk down the aisle.

Perhaps that’s why the Orlando couple decided their wedding reception should be “epic.”

To pull off the lofty goal, the Lys gave their guests a “secret mission” to perform during the post-nuptial celebration. The mission: all 250 guests were asked to dance and perform in a one-take music video.

And, dance and perform they did.

As the newlyweds lip synched to such tunes as “Love is an Open Door,” from Disney’s Frozen, Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” and Psy’s “Gangam Style,” guests hammed it up for the camera.

A video of the performance posted to YouTube by Robert Ly shows reception goers taking their roles rather seriously, providing dance backups to the couple’s “vocal” performances. Since it was posted on Aug. 23, the video has gone viral with more than 420,000 views.

“We did the music video purely to entertain our guests and get them all involved,” Teresa told Patch via email. “We didn’t want to do a typical dance with just the bridal party, we wanted to include all our guests.”

While the dance video was the icing on the cake, activities were planned throughout the reception, Teresa said.

“We started the night with a secret mission placed in a manila envelope on each table,” she said. Missions included taking selfies of the entire table, popping the champagne bottles open and creating a “chant” for each table.

The final secret mission happened to be the instructions for the dance number. The “mission instructions” were taped to the underside of guest tables. While the bridal party was apprised beforehand so each member could be in charge of a section of the video, “guests had no idea,” Teresa said.

Guests were given about 10 minutes of instruction before the camera started rolling.

The Lys came up with the idea for the music video about a month before their wedding.

“We just wanted our guests to have a blast,” Teresa explained.

As for the one-take idea, she said, “one take is all you need to pull off the surprise and have a great time.”

Robert, 29, and Teresa, 27, were married on Aug. 22. The couple owns the Sushi Eatstation in Orlando in the University of Central Florida area.

As for the music video, Teresa said it was the most memorable part of their wedding day.

“We knew it was going to be epic and we knew it was the ultimate surprise,” she said. “Craziness – and we love it.”
