The woman was riding a moped near Kings Avenue when she lost control, Hillsborough deputies say.

BRANDON, FL — A Riverview woman was critically injured in a Lumsden Road crash Wednesday morning that left a portion of the roadway closed for a time.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Migdalia Correa, 63, was riding her yellow-and-black moped east on Lumsden around 10:30 a.m. Correra was going about 35 mph when she lost control of the moped near Kings Avenue. She was in the center lane at the time and was thrown from the moped, an email from the sheriff's office said.

Correa, who was not wearing a helmet, struck her head on the pavement, the email said. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital by helicopter, deputies say. Her last known condition report was critical.
