Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. Creates Memorable Christmas for Local Children

TAMPA, Fla. – (Dec.8, 2014) –Tampa nonprofit, Current of Tampa Bay Inc., will hold its third annual Affordable Christmas event on Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Crossover Church, located at 1235 E. Fowler Ave. During this event, lower income families will have the opportunity to shop for toys, gadgets and gizmos for their children, at one-tenth of the original retail cost.

“It feels great giving parents the opportunity to buy a toy, that they normally would not be able to afford,” said Current President, Jason Sowell. “We believe that having families purchase items rather than taking a free handout empowers them and gives them the satisfaction of knowing they can provide for their children.”

Affordable Christmas toys and gifts, for children 14 years and younger, are being collected at Murray Motive in Oldsmar, Independent Bar & Cafe in Seminole Heights, Watermark Church in Seminole Heights, and Crossover Church in Tampa.

Items requested for donation include new or unused bicycles, sports toys and equipment, skateboards, scooters, video games, movies, dolls, action figures, arts and crafts and more. To see the full list of items, please visit www.christmasbycurrent.org.

Participating families must be considered low-income and invited or referred by members of Crossover Church, Positive Spin or Urban Young Life organizations. If you would like to refer a family, you may contact one of the listed Current of Tampa Bay partners.
