Deputies Say Woman Intentionally Ran Over Man On I-4 While Drunk

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies said a 38-year-old woman intentionally ran over a man while driving drunk.

SEFFNER, FL -- A 38-year-old woman was arrested Thursday night after Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies said she intentionally ran over a man while driving drunk.

Sheriff's deputies say Alicia Belcher was three times over the legal limit at 7:05 p.m. April 25 when she was traveling east on Interstate 4 and became involved in a verbal argument with her passenger.

Deputies said Belcher stopped her vehicle to let her passenger out. She then crossed over all three lanes of the highway and intentionally struck the passenger with her vehicle, deputies said. The passenger was transported to Tampa General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Deputies located Belcher on State Road 579 just north of Hillsborough Avenue East. They said she showed signs of intoxication so deputies took breath samples. The results indicated that she had a blood-alcohol level of 0.219/0.210. The legal limit is 0.08.

She was charged with DUI, DUI with serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon resulting in great bodily harm.
