Details Emerge in Fatal Train Crash
A Mulberry man died as a result of the Monday afternoon crash.

A 42-year-old Mulberry man is dead following a Monday collision with an Amtrak passenger train.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Toriano Dempsey was heading north from the access road at Copart’s Auction near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Jordan Road in Dover around 4:35 p.m. when the crash occurred. Dempsey drove his Buick into the path of the oncoming train, a highway patrol report states. His car was struck by the Amtrak and subsequently burst into flames.
Dempsey died at the scene, troopers say.

Amtrak 92 was traveling from Miami to Tampa at the time of the crash. The train had two engines and eight passenger cars attached with 147 people on board. No one on the train was injured in the crash, the report said. The train did not derail.
