Detective Saves Baby From Dog's Grasp
A Hillsborough deputy happened to see the attack while responding to another call.

A Plant City baby is in serious condition after being attacked by a 50-pound Boxer Tuesday morning.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Det. Jeffrey Harris was called out to 3701 E. Trapnell Road in relation to an auto theft around 8:07 a.m. Tuesday. As Harris was conducting an interview with the business owner, he noticed a dog with something in its mouth.
“The business owner and Detective Harris walked closer and realized that the dog, a 50-pound Boxer, had a child in his mouth,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media.

Harris ran over to the dog and began screaming at it, the sheriff’s office said. The dog dropped the child and ran away.
Michael Diaz, 1 1/2, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital following the attack. The boy is in serious condition at this time.

The sheriff’s office says the dog belongs to Diaz’s family.
Animals Services was called in. It is unclear at this time what the fate of the dog will be.
