BRANDON, FL — A car that crashed into an abandoned vehicle on State Road 60 in Brandon led police to the discovery of drugs in the car that was occupied by a 21-year-old driver from Jacksonville, law enforcement officials said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said David Angel hit a vehicle that was unoccupied on the shoulder of State Road 60 near Interstate-75, and he suffered minor injuries.

Authorities said when Angel was being treated at a local hospital, deputies found drugs inside Angel's car that included cocaine.

Officers said Angel was arrested after he got out of the hospital.

Angel is charged with multiple drug charges and a DUI, officials said.
