Early Voting Days Reduced to 8, Call Center Open

The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office is gearing up for the 2012 General Election with announcements concerning reduced early voting days, voter identification requirements and a number to call to get your questions answered.

 

The Department of Justice has approved the early voting portion of House Bill 1355 that reduces the number of days for early voting from 14 to eight. Early voting for the General Election in Hillsborough County will run from Oct. 27 through Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Among the 15 early voting sites are these in the Greater Brandon area:

  • Robert L. Gilder Elections Service Center, 2514 North Falkenburg Road
  • Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico
  • Riverview Branch Library, 10509 Riverview Dr., Riverview 
  • Plant City Bruton Memorial Library, 302 West McLendon St.

Voters need to bring to the polls valid photo and signature identification. Examples include:

  • Florida driver's license
  • Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • Debit or credit Card
  • Military ID
  • Student ID
  • Retirement center ID

  • The last day to register to vote for the 2012 General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 9.
  • A call center at the Robert L. Gilder Elections Service Center has opened to handle the expected increase in calls from voters with questions concerning such things as voter eligibility and polling site locations. The center also wll assist with vote-by-mail requests and information concerning early voting and Election Day voting. Call: 813-744-5900.
