Electrical Worker Attacked Woman In Her Home: Deputies

Two people nearby heard the woman's struggle and stopped the attack, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A 50-year-old Ruskin man faces a number of criminal charges after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies say he attacked a woman in her Riverview home Wednesday afternoon.

According to the agency, Adam Silva Millan went to the 44-year-old woman’s home just before 5 p.m. Wednesday to conduct electrical work. While there, he broke something and told the woman he would return later to fix it.

When he returned, Millan asked the woman to go into the garage and flip a switch on the electrical panel, an email from the sheriff’s office said. As the woman walked to the panel, Millan came up behind her, put his arm around her neck and pulled her to the ground, the email said.

Millan, deputies say, was armed with a knife.

“The victim struggled with the defendant on the ground while screaming for help as the defendant held the victim down and began tearing at her undergarments and shorts,” the email said. “He also attempted to put electrical tape over the victim's mouth as she was screaming.”

At some point during the struggle, Millan dropped the knife and began hitting the woman in the face, the sheriff’s office said.

Two nearby witnesses heard the woman’s struggle and came to help. Millan, the sheriff’s office said, fled in his gray Toyota Corolla.

The woman, who isn’t being identified, suffered a broken nose, other facial injuries and a cut on her knee. She identified Millan as the man who attacked her, deputies said.

Millan was arrested at his Ruskin home. He has been charged with burglary with battery, attempted sexual battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with great bodily harm. He was being held in the Hillsborough County Jail without bond Thursday morning.

Millan, jail records indicate, has been arrested in Hillsborough County before. Past charges include dealing in stolen property and providing a false statement while obtaining a driver’s license.
