VALRICO, FL — A 24-year-old woman is dead following a single-car crash near Lumsden and Durant roads early Wednesday morning.

At 3:20 a.m., Shanda Cypress of Riverview was driving a silver, 2019 Infinity GX50 east on Lumsden Road at a high rate of speed. Cypress later struck a concrete construction barrier just east of the intersection of Lithia-Pinecrest Road. The vehicle spun out of control and onto the shoulder of the road, hitting an excavator and continuing east across Durant Road. The car then struck a CAT grader and continued into an unoccupied Galaxy Fireworks Tent. It came to a stop when it hit the outer wall of an abandoned car wash.

It was found resting upside down on its roof hours later when road construction crew notified the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 6:40 a.m. after arriving to work.
