A 51-year-old Tampa man is dead following a Thursday morning accident at Infra Metals.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says Ricardo McCalop of Tampa was working at the 5208 24th Ave. S. business around 1:20 a.m. when the accident happened.
He “picked up a beam and was moving it when the beam struck a pile of beams which caused the beam on the forklift to shift,” wrote sheriff’s office spokeswoman Debbie Carter in an email to media. “The beam pushed the forklift over and crushed the victim.”

Stepps Towing was called in to help remove the beams.
