Gov. Scott Sweats Fan at Debate

Was he out of line?

Florida voters who tuned in to watch the first live debate between Republican Gov. Rick Scott and Democratic challenger former Gov. Charlie Crist Wednesday night had to wait a time for things to get under way.

That’s because Scott refused to step onto Broward College’s stage since Crist had a small electric fan set up below his podium.

Debate rules say no electronic devices are allowed, and Scott counted that fan as a banned device, The Tampa Tribune explained.

“Are we really going to debate a fan?” The Tampa Bay Times quoted Crist as saying.

Crist, as it turns out, has a sweating issue and is known for bringing a fan along during appearances.

The fan flap delayed the debate’s start by just a few minutes.

The two meet again Oct. 21 for the third and final debate. That matchup will be televised on CNN and begins at 7 p.m.
