Charges Dismissed Against Deputy For Drinking While Boating

The deputy's blood-alcohol level was less than .06. Florida's standard for legal impairment is .08.

BRANDON, FL – The State Attorney's Office has dismissed charges against a Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy who was charged with boating under the influence

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Alexander Craver, 28, of Riverview was arrested July 1 off Apollo Beach during the sheriff's office Operation Dry Water, an annual campaign focuses on the detection and arrest of people who operate a boat while drinking.

Although the marine patrol deputy said he smelled alcohol on Craver's breath and he did not pass the field sobriety tests, his blood-alcohol level was less than .06. Florida's standard for legal impairment is .08.
