Hillsborough SWAT Team Arrests Miami Murder Suspect
A man wanted on a second-degree murder charge in Miami was captured after a brief SWAT stand-off.
THONOTOSASSA, FL -- A man wanted on a second-degree murder charge in Miami was captured by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office after a brief SWAT stand-off on Friday morning, Aug. 10.
Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, the Sheriff's Office received a call from the Miami-Dade Police Department that a wanted murder suspect, Saddoni Levirrick Dowtin, 31, was hiding in Hillsborough County. Dowtin is connected to a homicide in Miami on July 13.
The search led deputies to a home at 9305 Grandfield Road in Thonotosassa around 1:30 a.m. Deputies attempted to make contact with Dowtin inside the home, but were unsuccessful. Believing Dowtin was possibly armed, the SWAT team was called to the scene at 7:11 a.m. to set up a perimeter around the property.

Surrounding homes were evacuated. A nearby school bus stop on Walker Road was rerouted outside of the secure perimeter.
At 8:23 a.m., realizing the home was surrounded, Dowtin surrendered to the SWAT team without incident. He was transported to the Orient Road Jail to be booked.
