Iguana Rescued from Burning Plant City Home
The human occupants got out safely, but two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

A family home on Nova Dee Lane in Plant City is much worse for the wear, but the human occupants and a pet iguana were able to escape a blaze that broke out there Wednesday night.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews responded to the call about the blaze around 9:30 p.m. When they arrived, smoke and flames were coming from the attic, wrote spokeswoman Nacole Revette in an email to media. All the home’s occupants were safely outside, but a pet iguana was not.
Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the blaze and save the pet, Revette wrote. They had to use shuttle operations because of a lack of fire hydrants in the area, she noted.
