Jail Inmate Dead in Apparent Suicide
Detention deputies found the Plant City man dead Friday morning.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office is investigating the death of an inmate at the Falkenburg Road Jail.
According to the agency, Jarrod S. Butterworth, 33, was found in a laundry/storage room inside his jail pod around 11:31 a.m. Butterworth, the agency said in an email to media, “had hanged himself with a bed sheet.”
Deputies performed CPR and notified jail medical staff.

Butterworth was taken to Brandon Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Butterworth was housed in the pod with 70 other inmates, the sheriff’s office noted. He had been at the jail since Oct. 21, 2015, after an arrest by the Plant City Police Department. He was charged with four counts of robbery, grand theft motor vehicle and seven counts of armed kidnapping, the sheriff’s office said.
