Seffner Shooting Victim Identified

The man was being robbed at the time.

A 35-year-old Seffner man is recovering from a gunshot wound after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies say he was attacked during a robbery.

The incident unfolded around 4 a.m. Tuesday at 1602 N. Taylor Road when the man went outside to find out why his dogs were barking.

“He was looking around his yard when he was confronted by at least two suspects who ordered him to the ground,” an email from the sheriff’s office to media stated. “The suspects grabbed an ATV that was parked outside the residence and began rolling it to their vehicle parked nearby.”

As the men were leaving, they turned and shot the victim at least once. The reasons for doing so, the sheriff’s office said, are unclear.

The victim has been identified as Gilben Longino Comacho, 35.

“Comacho remains hospitalized where he is currently being treated for a gunshot wound,” the email stated. “Comacho is expected to survive.”
