Minor Injuries Reported in Brandon Area Crash

The accident happened Tuesday morning on State Road 574 and Williams Road.

Two Brandon residents suffered minor injuries in a Tuesday morning crash along State Road 574 at Williams Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2013 Honda Civic driven by 71-year-old Luz De Jesus was heading westbound around 10:15 a.m. when the crash happened. At the same time, a GMC Canyon driven by 62-year-old William Carey was stopped for the red light on Williams Road.

When the red light changed to green, Carey attempted to cross State Road 574, but was struck by the Civic that didn’t stop for the red light on the State Road 574 side of the intersection, a highway patrol media release stated. Carey’s Canyon overturned in the resulting crash.
