Moped Rider Dies Following Lumsden Road Crash

The single-vehicle accident happened Wednesday morning on Lumsden Road near Kings Avenue.

BRANDON, FL — A Riverview woman critically injured in a Lumsden Road crash Wednesday morning has died from her injuries.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced the death of Migdalia Correa, 63, Thursday morning. The agency said Correa was riding her yellow-and-black moped east on Lumsden around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday when the crash occurred.

Correra was going about 35 mph when she lost control of the moped near Kings Avenue. She was in the center lane at the time and was thrown from the moped, an email from the sheriff's office said.

Correa, who was not wearing a helmet, struck her head on the pavement, the email said. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital by helicopter following the accident.
