Cops: Motorist Speeds Past Deputy, Crashes Into Truck
The woman was ultimately charged with DUI for the Thursday morning wreck.
When a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy watched as a 2014 black Honda Civic blew past him, heading eastbound on Highway 60 near Mt. Carmel Road, he tried to stop the driver in her tracks.
The deputy, however, was unable to stop that car, losing sight of it as it approached Dover Road around 1:40 a.m. Thursday, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Debbie Carter.
Just one mile down the road, however, the deputy discovered that the Honda had come to a stop by hitting a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck in the rear end, breaking its axle, causing it to overturn and ejecting its driver.
