Multivehicle Crash Creates Mess on I-75

The wreck occurred in South Hillsborough County Tuesday afternoon, sending three people to the hospital.

When a tractor trailer transporting a mobile home lost part of its load on Interstate 75 Tuesday afternoon, a domino-effect crash occurred. A total of five additional vehicles got caught in the fall out.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the wreck happened around 12:41 p.m. as the tractor trailer was heading north in the center lane near Big Bend Road. When a piece of the mobile home flew off the semi, a vehicle traveling behind the truck swerved to avoid the debris, but hit a third car that was traveling in the inside lane. The second vehicle then was redirected to the right and struck a fourth vehicle that was traveling in the center lane.

While the second vehicle came to rest upright in the tree line, the fourth vehicle overturned on the outside shoulder and struck a fifth vehicle that was traveling in the inside lane. The sixth vehicle involved in the crash was struck by debris from the semi.
