Names Released in Lithia Fatal Crash

The accident happened early Saturday evening.

Two people are dead following a fatal three-vehicle crash in Lithia Saturday evening.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the double fatality occurred around 7 p.m. as a Ford van driven by Todd Johnny Smith, 23, of Lithia was heading south on Highway 39, just south of Alderman Ford Park Drive. The van traveled left of the center line and struck a northbound Chevrolet Impala, driven by Lloyd Daniel Worth, 44, of Ruskin nearly head on.

A third vehicle, a Honda Civic, driven by Irma Busi, 64, of Plant City was behind the Impala and struck it after the initial crash, an email to media from the sheriff’s office stated.

Smith and Worth both died as a result of the crash.

Carl Worth, 14, a passenger in Worth’s Impala is in critical condition, deputies say.

Busi and her passengers, Sandiago Morales, 51, and Maria Lozada, 65, both of Bradenton, suffered minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, but deputies say alcohol may have been involved.
