New Recycling Schedule Announced For Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County Solid Waste customers are adjusting to a new recycling schedule because of lack of drivers due to coronavirus pandemic.

BRANDON, FL — Hillsborough County Solid Waste customers served by Waste Connections will temporarily receive residential recycling collection service every other week beginning Monday, July 13, said a Hillsborough County news release.

On June 24, the County informed residents that Waste Connections would temporarily suspend recycling collection because many of the company’s truck drivers were unavailable to work due to the coronavirus pandemic. The County said that temporarily shifting to an every other week collection schedule provides dependable recycling collection service as staffing levels gradually increase over the coming weeks.

Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management Division and Waste Connections said that this action plan is temporary. Weekly service will resume once the contractor is able to return staffing levels to normal.
