OneBlood Ramping Up for Labor Day

Tampa Bay area residents who have always wanted to be heroes may have their chance coming up this Labor Day weekend.

OneBlood, the blood supplier for the entire region, is playing host to a special donation event at all of its donor center locations. Blood donors who give at a center during the long weekend (Aug. 29-Sept. 1) will each get a limited edition “Heroes” T-shirt and a $10 eGift card.

“Donating blood is one of the most powerful actions any human being can take,” an email from OneBlood spokesman Daniel Eberts said. “Your donation will literally save someone’s life. It is that profound.”

Healthy people age 16 and up who weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to give blood.
