Update: U.S. 301 Open After Truck Crash
The southbound lanes closed for a time Thursday morning due to an overturned truck.

Update Oct. 16, 11:56 a.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol reports that all lanes of U.S. 301 near Interstate 4 are open.
Update Oct. 16, 10:42 a.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the southbound lanes of U.S. 301 remain closed as the truck and its cargo are removed from the scene.
The accident happened Thursday morning when a flatbed tractor-trailer transporting concrete beams was heading eastbound on Interstate 4 and exited onto U.S. 301 southbound. The truck took the exit ramp curve “at a speed too fast for conditions and overturned on its side,” an email from the patrol said. The truck’s cargo spilled onto the roadway when the vehicle overturned.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is advising motorists to avoid the area of U.S. 301 and Interstate 4.
An overturned truck has forced the closing of the southbound lanes of U.S. 301, south of Interstate 4. The eastbound exit ramp onto U.S. 301 from I-4 is also closed.
