Pastor Charged in Capital Sexual Battery

A 72-year-old Wimauma pastor is behind bars, charged in a sexual battery case that dates back decades.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a woman came forward with allegations about the man, saying he had performed numerous sexual acts on her before she turned 11. She also stated she and the man had sexual intercourse when she was between the ages of 14 and 17. The incidents began about 40 years ago, an email from the sheriff’s office stated.

Investigators assigned to the case conducted a controlled telephone call with the victim and the man she identified.

Patrick Shiver, deputies say, “admitted to performing sexual acts with the victim while she was under the age of 11.” He also admitted to having sex with her beginning when she was 14.

Shiver has been a pastor at a number of local churches through the years. He is currently the pastor at Casa De Dios in Wimauma.

Shiver was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on a charge of capital sexual battery. He is being held without bond.
