Pedestrian Killed In Ruskin Crash: Florida Highway Patrol

A 78-year-old man died after an SUV hit him on U.S. Highway 41, troopers said.

RUSKIN, FL — A 78-year-old pedestrian was killed Friday morning when a sport utility vehicle struck the victim as he crossed U.S. Highway 41 in Ruskin, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A Ruskin man drove his SUV southbound on U.S. 41 near 11th Avenue NE when the pedestrian stepped out in front of the vehicle at 10:30 a.m., authorities said.

The pedestrian died at the location of the crash, according to deputies.

The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.

Due to Marsy's Law, the Florida Highway Patrol will not release the name of the victim.
