Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Crash
The accident happened Thursday evening along 14th Avenue Southeast.
A 42-year-old Ruskin man is dead following a Thursday evening accident.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Genaro Olmeda-Laureno was walking east on 14th Avenue Southeast in the eastbound lane just before 8 p.m. when he was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. Olmeda-Laureno was taken to South Bay Hospital and then flown to Tampa General Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Deputies say the Malibu’s driver, Anthony Platt Jr., 37, was not injured.
