Pedestrian Seriously Injured in U.S. 301 Crash

TAMPA, FL — A 26-year-old Atlanta man is in critical condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital following a Thursday night crash on U.S. 301.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Geneva Irene Cooper, 19, of Tampa was heading south on U.S. 301 in the outside lane around 11:43 p.m. At that time, John Franklin Davis was walking westbound to cross U.S. 301 near Hampton Oaks Parkway. Davis, troopers wrote in a report, was not in a crosswalk.

Davis walked into the path of Cooper’s oncoming 2003 Ford Taurus, the report said.

No charges were filed in the accident.
