The accident occurred Tuesday evening in Polk County.
A 20-year-old Polk County man might want to consider playing the lottery while his luck holds out.
According to the Winter Haven Police Department, Carlos Pino managed to survive a “horrific crash that split his vehicle in two.”
The wreck happened around 6:48 p.m. Tuesday as Pino was heading west along Cypress Gardens Boulevard at the curves near Interlochen Boulevard. “The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to split in two with the front engine compartment on one side of the tree and the vehicle’s cab with Pino buckled in coming to a rest on the opposite side of the tree,” an email to media from the police department stated.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

While Pino survived, he didn’t escape injury entirely. He was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Health with injuries police describe as not life-threatening.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending. Police have said wet road conditions and speed are believed to be the main factors in the crash.
