Portillo's Brandon Starts Hiring Crew Soon

The new eatery is accepting applications online.

BRANDON, FL — It won’t be long before hungry Tampa Bay area residents can line up to taste the flavors that have made Portillo’s a Midwest favorite, but first the eatery has to put a staff in place.

To that end, Portillo’s is now accepting online applications for its Brandon store and has opened a temporary hiring center at 1335 W. Brandon Blvd. In-person interviews begin on Jan. 26 with appointments available Tuesdays through Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The company announced on its website it will also accept walk-in applicants during those hours.

“Crew member positions pay up to $12 an hour,” the website said. “New Portillo’s team members can look forward to career advancement opportunities, with five new Portillo’s restaurants planned to open in 2016.”

The new eatery, famed for its hot dogs, is anticipated to open on the northwest corner of State Road 60 and Lakewood Drive in March.

“Our Brandon restaurant will feature a 1930’s prohibition theme,” the restaurant announced on its website. “It will also have a double drive-thru lane to accommodate as many cars as possible.”

The chain got its start with a single stand outside Chicago in 1963. Today is serves up all-beef hot dogs, burgers, salads and more at locations throughout Illinois, Indiana and in Arizona and California. The Brandon store will be the chain’s first in the Sunshine State.
