Brandon Man Dead After Road Rage Shooting
Breaking: The deadly incident occurred Wednesday morning along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Forbes Road.

BRANDON, FL – A 40-year-old Brandon man is dead following a Wednesday morning road rage incident that turned deadly.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Gary Lynn Durham of Brandon and Robert Padgett, 42, got into a traffic-related dispute around 6:30 a.m. The dispute occurred along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, just east of Forbes Road.
At some point during the altercation, the sheriff’s office said Padgett fired at least one round from a handgun. The shot hit and killed Durham.

“Padgett began administering first aid for Durham and awaited for deputies to arrive,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media. “Padgett has been cooperative during the investigation.”
The case remains under investigation with no charges filed as of yet. “Padgett was released pending review of the case by the State's Attorney's Office,” the sheriff’s office noted.

Authorities have not said what prompted the dispute between the two men.
