Reclining Seat Spat Causes Florida-Bound Plane to Divert
The kerfuffle that erupted when one passenger tried to recline prompted the plane's crew to make a pit stop in Jacksonville.

A Monday evening Delta flight from New York’s LaGuardia Airport bound for West Palm Beach made an unexpected stop in Jacksonville after a passenger became irate when the woman in front of her tried to recline.
Amy Fine, 32, of Boca Raton was attempting to rest with her head on the tray table when the woman in front of her pushed her seat back, ABC news reported.
At that point, Fine started hollering and swearing, the Washington Post reported. When a flight attendant came over, it just made matters worse.

Fine told the attendant to “put this plane down now,” and the crew obliged, ABC said.
The plane stopped in Jacksonville where Fine got off, escorted by police. She was interviewed and then later released, the Post reported.

While Fine admitted to being upset and having “words” with the woman, she told authorities she was not disruptive.
The flight made it to West Palm about 90 minutes later than scheduled.
Delta said it made the decision to reroute and let Fine off out of an “abundance of caution.”
This is the third time in the past few weeks arguments over reclining seats have prompted changes in flight plans, the Post pointed out.
