BRANDON, FL —The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting with no injuries in the 1000 block of Mook Street in Brandon.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said deputies were called to a home near Mook Street and Angelica Place around 10 a.m. Wednesday after a child protective investigator came in contact with a 15-year-old boy who became irate. The investigator retreated to her car and the teen began punching and kicking the car door and windshield, breaking the glass.

She called for help and, when a sheriff's Cpl. John Seale arrived, he found the teen in the road with a rifle pointed beneath his chin. He ordered the teen to drop the rifle, but the teen refused.

The teen has a criminal history including armed burglary, grand theft auto, felony criminal mischief and domestic violence.

Chronister said deputies have been called to the teen's home a number of times.

Seale has worked at the sheriff's office since 2000.

"It's never an easy decision for a deputy to decide when to discharge their firearm. It's not a decision we take lightly," said Chronister. "We are thankful that this incident ended with no one getting hurt and a very violent person getting off the streets and hopefully getting the help he needs."
