Visitors who click through the Polk County Sheriff’s Office’s latest “mugshot galleries” on Facebook are likely to notice something just a little different.
Rather than roundups of wanted – or recently captured – men and women, the page has been flooded by a merry band of costumed characters. Super heroes, FBI agents and even a little Sheriff Grady Judd can all be found courtesy of the agency’s recent attempt to scare up some social media fun.
On Tuesday, the agency posted a photo of 5-year-old Davis dressed as Judd and used the pint-sized sheriff’s mug to request that its fans send in more shots of their kids decked out for Halloween.

Fans responded in a very big way.
Only hours after the first post hit Facebook, the sheriff’s office created a second one with 29 shots of some of the Tampa Bay area’s cutest costumed kids.

“These photos were sent in by our Facebook fans and we are excited to share them with you,” the agency explained on its page. Another gallery of “mugs” went live on Wednesday with more than 40 shots.
The effort, in fact, has gone viral with more than 2,000 likes and hundreds of shares on each gallery.
As for that little sheriff who started it all, it seems Judd might be concerned about a little competition in his next election.
“Davis, you look great,” the sheriff’s office noted on its original post. “When will you be running for sheriff?”
