Sheriff Seeks Couple Involved In Gift Card Scam In New York

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man and a woman suspected of impersonation fraud.

The sheriff's office received an alert from New York State Police who said the couple had scammed a resident out of thousands of dollars by convincing the resident that their Social Security number had been compromised.

The victim purchased several gift cards for the couple and gave them the PIN numbers. Those gift cards were later used at four Walmarts in Hillsborough County.
