Shooting At Brandon Gas Station Leaves 18-Year-Old Dead

A Durant High School student was fatally shot during a fight at a Brandon gas station.

UPDATE: The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Riverview teen for the fatal shooting of Durant High School football player Grover Wills. The sheriff's office has charged Samuel Morrissey Jr., 20, of 9824 Ocasta St., Riverview, with second-degree murder with a firearm in the death of Wills, 18, of 706 Rocky Mountain Court, Valrico.

VALRICO, FL – A fight between a Durant High School student and another man at a Brandon gas station turned fatal on Sunday, April 15.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office say Grover Wills, 18, of 706 Rocky Mountain Court, Valrico, a football and basketball player at Durant High School, was driven to the Mobile Gas Station at 612 W. Lumsden Road, Brandon, by a friend around 7:50 p.m.

At the gas station, Wills got out of the car and met with another man. A fight broke out and Wills was shot.

Wills ran back to the car he arrived in and the driver took him to the hospital where he later died.

Homicide detectives are conducting interviews with the shooter and witnesses to determine if charges will be filed.

Detectives do not believe this was a random act. They think it was drug-related.
