Suspect Robs Clerk At Gunpoint In Valrico: Video

VALRICO — A cashier feared for her life when a suspect pointed a gun toward her as he demanded money at a Shell gas station in Valrico on Saturday night, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. At 10:50 p.m., a man went into a convenience store located at 4330 Lithia Pinecrest Rd., and then demanded the clerk open the cash register as he stood by the victim pointing a gun at her, investigators said.

The suspect turned away from the victim and shot once inside the store at a shelf, authorities said.

The man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, and was seen traveling northbound on Lithia Pinecrest Road.

"This man entered a business with a loaded gun and was clearly not afraid to use it," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We can only imagine how frightened the clerk must have felt when he pointed a gun at her, and even more so when he fired a shot at a display shelf just a few feet away. Our deputies are working hard to identify this masked gunman, and we urge anyone how has information that could help detectives, to please come forward and help us get this suspect off the streets."

Deputies described the suspect as a white man, ages 17 to 24, five-feet-eight to six-feet and a thin to medium build.
