Once my Pie had a blanket, my family decided to grant me the title of official baby blanket maker. Like my grandmother who had knitted each grandchild their own individual and unique blanket, I was honored to take on the task.
At the time, I had no idea how many more babies would be born within the next two years. If I had, maybe I would not have accepted the title so graciously, but I believe everything happens for a reason.
The second blanket I ever made was for my nephew, Henrik, who was born just 10 months after my daughter. His blanket was done with a fleece which was embroidered with a sweet pea pattern. It gave it a unique texture. Babies really enjoy the soft fleece and silky satin
I was unsure how it would turn out, since I had been previously only used fleece. However, the blanket was more light weight and comfortable for those babies who can not regulate their body temps just yet. A perfect gift for a newborn born into the warmer seasons or southern states.
