Tampa Cop Suffers Minor Injuries in Interstate Crash
Troopers have not been able to identify the other driver.
A 29-year-old Tampa Police officer suffered minor injuries Thursday evening as he was driving his cruiser north on Interstate 75.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jason Degarmo was headed northbound in the Big Bend Road area around 6:14 p.m. in a marked patrol car. Degarmo was in the center lane when a car traveling in front of him in the inside lane switched to the center.
Degarmo, a highway patrol report stated, steered to the outside shoulder to avoid a collision and lost control of his vehicle. The cruiser left the road and struck the tree line on the east shoulder of the road.

The two cars did not collide, but the driver who pulled in front of Degarmo did not stop, the report stated.
The other vehicle is described as a gold four-door sedan, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria or a Grand Marquis.

Degarmo suffered minor injuries in the crash, the report stated.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the highway patrol at 813-631-4020. Charges are pending.
